Last Meeting Highlights

November 11, 2015 Chapter Meeting Minutes

Pledge of Allegiance: President Cindy Nielsen called the business portion of the meeting to order at 9:10 am and led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance. Nine attendees were present.

Education/Training Committee:  Cindy Nielsen noted that applications need to be started for the scholarship program.

Golf Tournament/ Activities:  No Update

ICC: No update

Education Program: Allen Johnson is working on CFBOAF being able to accept credit card payments for the upcoming permit tech class.  There was a good turnout of attendees for the site seminar, 65 plus people attended each day.

Guest Speaker: No guest speaker

State BOAF:  John O’Conner spoke about a potential new program to help recruit and train inspectors. It would involve having interns that building department would hire.  The interns would have post-high school training in one of several areas including construction, engineering and mathematics.  It would be up to the Building Official to train them.  There would be continuing education requirements, ongoing testing and evaluations by a BOAF Committee.  This would be another way to recruit employees in addition to the currant BOAF cross training program. John O’Conner will be the guest speaker next week to go into more details on this program and other recruitment options.

General Discussion: There will be a need next year for a new CFBOAF director.  Please submit any candidates as soon as possible.

Kris Stenger Attended the AIA Codes and standards meeting in Washington D.C. this past month.  They have looked a redesigning the building code document so that it follows the natural progression of the building, from the ground up.
